At Brightjacks' - Health - Family Temperament - Conformation - Eye Appeal are my Goals
I have set my standards high, consistently working towards producing shortie's with my preferred overall qualities such as;
- Heads with symmetrical markings or patch eyed that appear Chiseled and Expressive
- Heavy folded ears, set level and close to the head with pointed V-shaped tips preferred no longer than the corner of the eye
- Good Bite is Essential - Level/Scissor bite only
- Mostly white bodied with little to no body markings - Limited Head/tail markings are my favorite, what I strive to produce
- Body length that is slightly less than rectangular, yet conforms to my preferred body to leg ratio
- Strong solid build with good top line and level head/tail carriage - standing at maturity 10" - 11" at the shoulder
- Legs with good bone that are straight to slightly less than straight, as acceptable to the more modern day body style
- Cat like feet that allow good upright, on their toes, straight forward stance
- Last but not least, I strive to produce top quality coats - dense, medium to course texture - Smooth, Broken, Rough Coats

* NO GUARANTEE regarding Ear Set, Coat, Conformation at maturity, as it is impossible to predict when a puppy is purchased at 8 - 10 weeks of age.
A standing ear, body and leg freckles are cosmetic and legs that are slightly less than perfectly straight remain common in this breed.
I continue to work towards my goals of improved overall conformation, however producing Calm, Healthy Companions, remain My #1 Priority!

PLL testing is available to determine whether a dog is a CARRIER for the diseased gene linked to Blindness.
As a responsible Breeder, it is my goal to help eliminate the possibility of transfer through knowledgeable breeding decisions.
In 2011, all of my shorties were PLL tested. I have two females that tested as CARRIERS. Both are from lines that have
proven to be of great importance to the Shortie Jack breed. Both females will produce litters this Spring with hopes of being able
to retain CLEAR daughter's to continue these lines. My personal goal, ALL PARENTS PLL CLEAR by Summer 2012.
PLL is not Life Threatening, but adults should be tested prior to breeding, eliminating possibility of breeding CARRIER/CARRIER.
CLEAR/CARRIER matings remain acceptable and in some cases necessary to retain CLEAR prodigy to insure breeders are able
to nurture past - present - future bloodlines.

CLEAR: This finding indicates that the gene is not present in your dog. Therefore, when used for breeding, a Clear dog will not pass on the disease gene.
|
| |
CARRIER: This finding indicates that one copy of the disease gene is present in your dog, but that it will not exhibit disease symptoms. Carriers will not have medical problems as a result.
Dogs with Carrier status can be enjoyed without the fear of developing medical problems but will pass on the disease gene 50% of the time.
